It was founded in 1984 in Emeryville, California and operates worldwide.
Dedicated exclusively to the provision of certification services with scientific basis and professional competence in the market, in a wide variety of subjects.
SCS specializes in food security, forest and fisheries management, life cycle impact analysis, corporate social responsibility, environmental declarations and environmentally preferred products.

The Vice President of SCS, Dr. and PhD. Robert Hrubes was a founding member of FSC in 1993 and today is a member of the General Committee.
